Encounter
Intergenerational Faith Formation
Encounter is our monthly parish-wide, intergenerational faith-formation program to seek encounters with God as a community. Faith formation within St. Catherine's is not your traditional religious education program solely for children. Rather, our Encounter program is designed for all members of the parish, including Drake and other college students, families with young and school-age children and youth, and adult households.
Each year, Encounter has an annual theme with each month focusing on a specific aspect of that theme in order to grow in our relationship with God, our knowledge of the Church, and how to live our faith in our daily lives. Past annual themes include prayer, the Mass, Catholic Social Teaching, and Scripture. Our theme for 2026-2027 is The Saints: Inspiring Everyday Faith in Action or Holy Heroes (for the kids!).
Join Us
All are invited to join us for Encounter on the first Sunday of the month, October through May, following the 10 a.m. Mass. The program includes a shared lunch followed by an ice-breaker activity and separate breakout sessions on the featured topic for young children, teens, and adults. The main dish for lunch is provided. Please bring a non-dessert side dish to share. All are always welcome and no registration is necessary.
Encounter resumes on October 4th, 2026.
