Bishop Richard Pates announced today plans for a leadership transition at the St. Thomas More Center, home of Catholic Youth Camp. Bishop Pates has accepted the resignation of Paul Tauke, executive director of the center, effective June 12. The bishop also announced the appointment of Deacon Jim Houston, as interim executive director starting June 12.
“We thank Paul for working with us to increase the number of youth who experience Catholic Youth Camp, and spreading the word that the St. Thomas More Center near Panora is an ideal location for retreats and meetings,” said Bishop Pates.
Deacon Houston has served as director of operations at the St. Thomas More Center for the past three years. As interim executive director, he will assist the Advisory Board in executing a strategic plan that addresses better engagement with parish communities including Hispanic outreach and expands the use of the facility by young adults for their spiritual growth.
It is anticipated that a new executive director will be named in the coming months.
