Welcome to St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and Student Center at Drake University
We are a spirit-filled and welcoming Catholic family of joy, located in the heart of the Des Moines Metro area one block south of Drake University. We’ve been serving students and faculty since the mid-1940s and have been The Drake Newman Community since 1969. We also enthusiastically welcome community members and their families to share in the mission of a Catholic Newman Community serving university students, while also strengthening their own faith.
We are an intimate, vibrant, faith family of Catholic servant leaders. We have a healthy parish life with residents and students engaged in many ministries to serve the Church. If you haven’t already, we invite you to register.

Our Mission
St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and Student Center at Drake University is an inclusive and supportive community of resident parishioners and students striving through liturgy, community, service, and faith formation to grow as servant leaders for the Catholic Church and broader community.
Parish Life
Whether you are a new or longtime member, we encourage you to become involved in some capacity to feel connected and engaged. Our ministries include: Servant Leadership (Parish Council); Stewardship (Finance Council and Foundation); Faith Formation (Family & Children’s Ministry, Campus Ministry, Life-Long Learning, and Encounter, our intergenerational program); Liturgy, Music & Prayer; Community Formation; and Service; as well as a Communications team.

Student Life
St. Catherine’s is not only a place to worship and grow in faith, but a place for Drake and other Des Moines-area college students to study, attend events, meet new friends, and grow as individuals. We have everything from movie nights and study sessions to service programs and Bible studies.
