Fr. Mark Owusu

Pastor

Fr. Mark Owusu (called Fr. Mark) is the Pastor at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and Student Center (Drake Newman Community) and the Director of Campus Ministry for the Diocese of Des Moines. Fr serves the pastoral needs of Drake students and other students in the diocese.  Fr Mark has served this community for 4 years now.

He was ordained a priest in Ghana on August 7, 2004 by Cardinal Turkson. He served as an associate pastor for three years in Ghana. In 2007, Fr. Mark moved to the  US with the permission of his bishop to be the Ghanaian liaison for the Ghana Mission at our Lady of Grace Church, Edina, Minnesota.

Before St Catherine’s, Fr Mark served as Spiritual Director at St. Gregory Centers Inc. at Bayard and Adair, IA - residential treatment facilities offeringoptions for recovery to people dealing with drug or alcohol dependency.

Fr. Mark has 2 younger brothers and one older sister in Ghana.  Fr. Mark attended St. Peter's Regional Seminary (Ghana) for his Theological Studies.  He also earned his MBA from the University of St. Thomas, Minnesota, and a Ph. D. in Human Capital Management from Bellevue University, Nebraska.  His Bishop wants him to come and teach in Ghana.  Fr Mark enjoys playing volleyball. He is also very good with Scrabble.  In his spare time, he likes to read and pray.
